Business plays a large role in maintaining our vibrant communities. To help foster this relationship between our communities and businesses, Vermont supports businesses through incentive programs that will help you achieve your business goals.
The Vermont Employment Growth Incentive (VEGI) program provides financial support in the form of cash payments for growth in employees and investments in capital facilities, machinery, and equipment. In addition to the VEGI program, assistance is also available to municipalities for infrastructure development through the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Program.
These economic incentives are managed by the Vermont Economic Progress Council (VEPC) – an independent board consisting of nine Vermont citizens appointed by the governor that considers applications to the state’s economic incentive programs. The Council is attached to the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development, and works closely with the Department of Economic Development.
