The environment is an important part of Vermont’s culture and economy. The working landscape and quality of our land, air, and water are important to Vermonter’s way of life and to many industries in the state, such as agriculture and tourism.

We believe that making the right choices for the environment can benefit your business as well. Vermont has many programs that work with businesses to make a positive impact on the environment and deliver direct business benefits such as lower energy consumption.

If you’re in the process of upgrading your facilities and equipment or soon will be, the following resources are available to you, many of them free of charge:

Public Resources to Help Your Business Invest in Energy Efficiency (pdf) is a good publication that will give you all the names, contacts and details for state organizations involved in energy and environmental issues.

Efficiency Vermont
Efficiency Vermont offers an array of resources and services with a mandate of providing technical and financial assistance and design guidance in order to promote energy efficiency and protect the environment. They’ll work with you and your contractors, vendors and design professionals to identify the cost- and energy-saving steps you can take, including lighting, equipment, fixtures and building materials.

The Energy Efficiency Division of the Department of Public Service works to achieve many of the same goals as Efficiency Vermont, but in addition serves businesses and the public through a variety of forums focused on legislative and regulatory issues and informational and educational topics.
